The History of Westminster, Mass., p. 172: "Names of Soldiers who went to Cambridge upon hearing of the battles of Lexington and Concord, April 19, 1775, for ten days' service." ELIAS STEARNS is named in Captain Estabrook's Company, in Colonel Asa Whitcomb's Regiment."

His death was carried in the The Boston Daily Atlas on 16 Apr. 1845. "At Haverhill, N.H., Mr. Elias Stearns, 95, [sic 92] formerly of Westminster, a soldier of the Revolution." The Springfield Republican had his age as 92.
