About Elijah Pound
When his father died he inherited some property in Salt Meadow, Piscataway and lived there for many years. In 1784 he married Isabella Sharp, daughter of Langstaff Sharp of Piscataway. In October 1809 Elijah and his wife and family left New Jersey and moved Junius, Seneca County, New York, where he was received in the Farmington Monthly Meeting of Friends. While living in New York Elijah was a farmer. It was there that most of his children were married. Later about 1832 he moved west to Elk Town, Warren County, Pennsylvania, where several of his sons had moved in 1831. He and his wife were granted a certificate to the Rochester Monthly Meeting in 1835. Elijah was active in the Quaker Church, appearing numerous times on various committees in the several meetings of which he was a member.
