Elizabeth Doss

Elizabeth Wright was the name of one wife of Thomas Doss Jr. They were married 28 Nov. 1754 in St. James Northam Parish, Goochland Co., Va. (records survive in the "Douglas Register." A Revolutionary War Pensioner named John Doss seems to have been their son; he was born ca, 1758. It's long been my suspicion that Elizabeth died not long after John's birth and that Thomas Jr. remarried some years later and had more children by his second wife. Her name may have been Sally (Sarah). I say this because Littleberry had several brothers and sisters and they were all born in the 1770s or later: Jesse (who was taxable in 1800 but still living at home); Samuel (shown as 70 years old in the 1850 census); Jacob (b. ca. 1772). There were also sisters, Mary b. ca. 1780 (married David Layne) and Permelia (or Mildred/Milly) b. ca. 1777 (married Matthew Wilson). John is the only child known to be born in the 1750s.
