About Elizabeth Gifford

Notes

  • Elishua came over to Mass. in 1634,is listed on the ship's manifest as Elishua Crowe (the original name); she was either already married to John OR her maiden name was also Crowe, several Crowe families in Norfolk, Eng. Elishua traveled with the Chubbock family & bought a house & land adjacent to theirs in Charlestown (now a part of Boston). Abt. 1635 John & Elishua Crowe are listed as members of a church, living in Charlestown. John & kids arrived after Elishua (ship's manifest). Strong belief John's 1st wife was a Yelverton, nothing definitive.

The Elishu above is the daughter of Yelverton, she b @ 1647/8, m John Gifford. Their dtr Elizabeth Gifford mentioned as grandaughter in Yelverton will.
