Elizabeth "Betsey" "Betsy" Baldwin, dau. of Colonel Jeduthan Baldwin and Lucy Parkman, was born 1766 in Brookfield, Worcester Co., Massachusetts. As evidenced by the letters (referenced below) she was well sought after both as friend and by a multitude of suitors. She had an out-going personality that was widely applauded and the lack of correspondence or her company was dearly felt. At the age of seventeen she had already lost her two eldest brothers; Jeduthan dying at age 6 in 1763 ( before her birth), and Isaac at the age of 19 (in 1783) and a sister, Lucy, who died aged 2 months, again; prior to her birth. There remained only her brother Luke as sibling.

She married, as 2nd wife, with DAVID PEARCE.

Notes

Betsy's home was in Brookfield, Massachusetts. As a young woman she often visited Gloucester, Massachusetts, where she had many friends. She saved a great many letters from her family and friends, from the 1770s onward, which are in process of being transcribed. See the tripod website for text ...
