DIED, since our last, in this town, Widow Elizabeth Sheldon, aged 77, relict of the late Hon. Elisha Sheldon, Esq.

Index to "Litchfield & Morris Inscriptions" lists "Elizabeth on page 45, same as Elisha.

It is not certain that Elizabeth is buried with her husband here. At the time of her death two of her children were living in Litchfield and there is no record of her burial in another location. At the time of their deaths, other prominent citizens were buried under table tombs together.

Preamble to the inscription honoring Hon. Elisha Sheldon: In M [memory] Mary D . . . f,, Elisha . . ., Esq, and E[lizabe]th his wife; who departed this life August ye 31st 1765 in the 22nd year of her age. It may be Mary that died at 22 years.
