Mrs. Al Uptmor is Victim of Stroke

Mrs. Elnora Uptmor, 50, a lifelong resident of Keuterville, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 21, at 5 o’clock at St. Mary’s Hospital in Cottonwood, where she had been a patient since Saturday. Death was attributed to a stroke. Word of her death came as a shock to the entire area.

Mr. and Mrs. Uptmor left their home east of Keuterville Saturday morning to go to another ranch west of that country village to check on some cattle. She suffered a severe stroke while there, and her husband and eldest son, whose home was nearby, rushed her to the hospital, but she failed to respond to treatment and death came to her release early Tuesday morning. Elnora Sprute was born Sept. 25, 1910, at Keuterville. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Casper Sprute. She received her education at Keuterville and on June 24, 1930, was united in marriage to Alphons Uptmor. They made their home on a farm in that community.

Mrs. Uptmor was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Catholic Church at Keuterville and was a member of the Christian Mothers Sodality. She had been very active in church and community work and took an active interest in her Extension club activities. She was held in high respect by all who knew her and numbered her friends by all her acquaintances.

Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, two daughters, seven brothers, four sisters and six grandchildren.

A rosary service was conducted Wednesday evening at Holy Cross Church, following the Lenten devotions. The Rosary will also be recited this Thursday evening at 8 at the Uhlorn Funeral Home in Cottonwood.

Funeral services for Mrs. Uptmor will be conducted Friday morning at 9:30 am at Holy Cross Church, Keuterville, with the Rt. Rev. C. A. Bradley, O.S.B. officiating and reading the requiem mass. Buriel will be in the Keuterville cemetary.
