About Gertrude C. Forsman - Flatt
Gertrude C. Forsman Flatt, a long time Lewiston resident, died of a massive stroke at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center here. November 1999 She was 85.
She was born Sept. 21, 1914, at Keuterville to Casper and Clara Dasenbrock Sprute. She grew up in Keuterville with 11 brothers and sisters and graduated from the eighth grade.
She married Frank B. Forsman June 6, 1935, at Holy Cross Church in Keuterville.
The couple then moved to Gem, Idaho, and stayed there for 10 years before moving to Fernwood, Idaho, for four years. The couple made their home in the Ferdinand area, where she enjoyed being a wife and mother. They later moved to Lenore, then to the Wallace, Idaho, area, Santa, Idaho, and then They moved to Lewiston in the late 1970s.
Her husband died Nov. 8, 1980.
She married Clarence E. Flatt Sept. 22, 1984, at Lewiston. He died July 31.
She was a life-long member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed homemaking, music, dancing and traveling.
Survivors include her four children, Darrel Forsman of Grangeville, Corinne Forsman of Cottonwood, Jeanne Holthaus of Lewiston and Karen Uhlorn of Ferdinand; two stepsons, Larry Flatt of Lewiston and Henry Flatt of Buckley, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ray Sprute of Wallace, Idaho, Al Sprute of Coeurd'Alene and Virgil Sprute of Richland; and three sisters, Mary Schmidt of Cottonwood, Helen Weiand of Spokane and Margie Spangler of Grangeville.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister and a granddaughter.
A vigil service will be held at 7 this evening at St. James Catholic Church in Lewiston.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Bill Crowley will officiate.
Burial will be at Lewis-Clark Memorial Garden.
