Elsa Weisskopf had become completely estranged from her husband towards the end, and Ilka Gedő wrote in her diary very bitterly about her parents' marriage.
Elsa Ilka Gedő, who lived in a sublet died on February 7th, 1954. Endre Bíró reports about it with merciless objectivity: "I also have to say something about the death of Elsa. It was an ugly death, and death reached her lonely. There was a flu epidemic going on and Elsa got so sick she had to be taken to the hospital. She passed away the day after she was hospitalized on February 7, 1954. Her heart was in such a terrible state that the flu put an end to Elsa. " [43] Then Simon Gedő, who gave up the sublet apartment in Erzsébet fasor, moved back into his sister-in-law's apartment: he was 74 years old at the time.
