About Erik Rasmussen Tveito

Etne-soga by Ståle Dyrvik, vol V "Folket. Grindheim sokn." p 121 item 4

translated from Etne-soga V as found in the genealogy of his grandson

Erik was born 1795 at Fjosne in Etne, . He was son of Rasmus Erlksson and Liva Torkjellsdtr. Erik was only 4 year old when his father died in 1899. The registration of Etne agreement Commission tell us that Rasmus øvernes guardian to Erik, later on the guardians is Haldor Torson and Lars Tungesvik It looks like Rasmus øvemes has made some trickery with Eric's inheritance from his father. In Silver tax census of 1816 Erik is mentioned as worker at Fjøsne with 2 spd in silvertax. Erik got an illegitimate daughter with Brita Tjerandsdir. Silla. The daughter was born at Silla 1822 and was named Bnta, dead 1903 at Meland. 1833 Erik married Brita Amundsdjtr. Tvedten; they lived as inmost in two year before taking over in 1835. The circumstances for enter on was: As long as Brita's parents lived they should yearly have 18 våger oats, 1 våg malt, I barrel barley, 2 skjepper rye and foetus of 3 cows and 14 sheep . They also should have the field Svinaflekket and a bit more land.

In 1859 Erik made a decision that the farm Tveito should be shared equally between his two sons Åmund and Rasmus. Åmund as oldest had the first choice. The border was made in 1862, and afterwards the document for take over was verified. Each of the sons should give up to their parents, 10 våger corn (oats, barley, iye), 1 barrel potatoes, and the produce of 1 cow and 5 sheep. On each part the sons had a condition; Amund gave the place Røsslan and the field Nylendo. Rasmus gave up the fields Nepaflekkje and Svinaflekkje Erik and Brita also had right to cutting grass and to have animals on secunda land. Erik and Brita had a good living at their last tventy years as “kår" people.
