About Ernest Herbert Martin
Ernest Herbert Martin, 67, a native of Boone county, died last night at his home, 1334 South Meridian Street, following a serious illness of several weeks.
The son of Jesse and Eliza Jane (Lambert) Martin, he was born May 27, 1888. He was married first to Carrie A. Steelsmith. His second marriage was June 24, 1944 in Indianapolis to Iva Marie Doty, who survives.
Mr. Martin had lived in Lebanon and Boone county most of his life and was a laborer. He was a member of the Congregational Christian church.
Surviving besides Mrs. Martin are four daughters, Mrs. John Rogers of near Bridgeport, Mrs. Malcom Creasser and Mrs. Oletta Anderson, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Charles Huber, Chicago: a brother, Roy Martin of Wilkinson; one sister, Mrs. Robert Waite of this city, four step-children, Mrs. Jesse Abbott, Rosston, james Likes of Frankfort and LeRoy B. and Lester Likens of Indianapolis; and 26 grandchildren. Two sons and three brothers are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Russell and Hitch funeral home with burial following in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
