About Eugene Ring
Irish Republican and member of Cumann na mBan Rosalie Rice was Eugene Ring's cousin. When the Easter Rising began in 1916, Rosalie sent a telegram to her cousins, who worked at Valentia Island Cable Station, that said,
"Mother operated on successfully today"
This message meant that the rising had begun. After this, Eugene and his brother informed John Devoy in New York that the rising had begun.
After this him and his brother were imprisoned in Cahersiveen Barracks. After Eugene was released he went on the run and later fought the Black and Tans division during the revolution. He also supported the republicans during the Irish Civil War. He was a member of the Gaelic Athletic Club
