Even Arnegard was born near Mayville, N. D. Aug. 23, 1878. He was baptized and confirmed in the Aal Church. On Nov. 10, 1905 he married Ida Rindy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Rindy. They had 7 children.
In the spring of 1905 he left for the western part of North Dakota and settled on a homestead 35 miles west of Williston, N. D. together with his brother, Oscar. They were of the first ones to claim land there. Late in the summer of 1905 when the brothers had built log cabins their families joined them. As there was no railroad, they hauled their grain 35 miles to Williston, bringing supplies home with them. Each trip took 3 days. Even also operated a livery stable.
The family moved back to Traill County in 1919 and lived near Hillsboro, N. D. until Even passed away April 23, 1940. He is buried in the Arnegard cemetery west of Hillsboro, North Dakota.
