Oscar I. Arnegard, son of Gjertrud and Iver O. Arnegard, was born Sept. 19, 1876, on a farm in Norway Township, ND. He was baptized and confirmed in the Aal Church.

On April 6, 1902, he married Laura Boyson, daughter of Theodore and Pauline Sundby Boyson. They lived on a farm near Mayville until 1905, when he homesteaded in McKenzie County.
To this union, eight children were born, who with their mother still survive. They are Gerhard, Lloyd, Doris, Livia and Vivian at home. Mrs. Clarence Kjensrud, Mrs. Carl Peterson and Mrs. Myrtle Strom, all of this community. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother: Mrs. Marie Strom of Mayville; Mrs. Julia Smaaladen, Aneta and Iver Arnegard of Arnegard. There are also five grandchildren.
In 1909, he moved to a farm in Norway Township, where he lived until he passed away on July 23, 1942.
Oscar had been ill for the past 11 years, following a stroke. Mr. Arnegard was a pioneer of Norway township.
Spending his childhood in the Norway township community, Mr. Arnegard accompanied his brothers to the western part of the state shortly after the turn of the century. They located in McKenzie county, and the town of Arnegard was named after them. He returned to Traill county after two years and has made his home here ever since.
