Ezra was Deacon in Durham; d. Mar. 26,1782, in his 76th year, as appears on his tombstone. He was, in October, 1730, one of the original subscribers of the Book Company of Durham, supposed by Prof. Fowler to be the first library in the Colony. His tombstone in Durham says: "Having with much usefulness in life faithfully served his own generation, according to the will of God, fell on sleep March 26,1782, in the 76th year of his age." Rev. Dwight Baldwin says he built his own house, even to making the nails himself; still standing in 1876.
