GOBEN

Floyd Goben, better known as "Bunker," the son of Alfred and Effie Goben, was born at Lucas, Iowa, June 15, 1912, and passed away Oct. 3, 1989, at the age of 77 years, three months and 17 days.

He was married to Carmen Gwinn August 28, 1940, at Osceola. The spent 49 years in Lucas and Clarke counties where he farmed and worked in construction. They were the parents of four children, Aulden, of Osceola, Connie, of Russell, Butch, of Woodburn and Esther, of Russell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister; two brothers, Aulden and Wilbert; granddaughter, Jaimie New; grandson, T. A. Masters; daughter-in-law, Pat Goben; and step-grandson, Jerry Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen; sons, Aulden and his wife Nancy, of Osceola, and Butch, of Woodburn; daughter, Connie Moore and husband Jim, and Esther Harlan, all of Russell; a very special friend, Ed Wutzke; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Bessie Heston and Jessie Griffiths; brother, Ed and wife Vinice; a sister-in-law, Hazel Goben; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Bunker instilled in his children and grandchildren a love for the outdoors and a pride in his Indian heritage. He was fondly referred to a "the chief" by his children and close friends. He loved to hunt and fish and looked forward to coon, turkey and deer hunting and was very proud of his coon hounds, Bo and Tom.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 5, 1989, at the Fielding Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry McAlpine officiating. Serving as beares were Chat Goben, Nick Goben, Allen Goben, Todd Masters, Frank Harlan and Travis Masters. Honorary bearers were Tony Braby, Kelly Braby, Mike Segalotto and Frank Segalotto.
