About Frances "Frankey" McDaniel

Francis Teague (daughter of Rev. Isaac Teague) (or Frankey as she was known) married first to Benjamin Watts ca 1769. She remarried to Samuel McDaniel, 25 Sept 1786, Randolph Co NC after Benjamin’s death.

Family

Benjamin Watts was born ca 1749, North Carolina, died ca 1786, Chatham Co NC. He is seen as son of Thomas Watts and Elizabeth Harrington.

Benjamin Watts and Frances Teague had children:

  • Elizabeth (b ca 1769 NC, married Jacob McDaniel ca 1784-5 NC, died aft 1840 in Arkansas);
  • Mary (born 14 July 1770, married Frederick Siler son of Plikard D. Siler and Elizabeth Hartzoe, Mary died 10 Oct 1856 Tipton TN);
  • Frances (b ca 1774, married John Emassy Beck, died 1 Sept 1841 Benton Co MS);
  • Rebecca Watts, (b ca 1841, married John McDaniel); Comment: more verification that this Rebecca Watts (born abt 1767) was a child of this Benjamin Watts and Frances Teague. If she is, then she is probably the one who married John McDaniel (b. 10/25/1765 - and had Cherokee heritae) on 12/10/1783. Rebecca would have been John's 2nd wife.
  • Nancy b ca 1778, married Aaron Aldridge, died aft 1845);
  • Jane (b ca 1780, married Samuel Stewart Jr.)

Frances "Frankey" Teague, widow of Benjamin Watts married Samuel McDaniel (said to be son of John McDaniel and Katherine -), Sept 25, 1786, Randoph Co., NC. She is shown as Franky Wats on her marriage certificate with Samuel McDaniel. A bond was signed by Samuel McDaniel to become guardian of the minor children of Benjamin Watts.

Children to this union:

  • 1.  Mariam McDaniel      born 1787, died 1855 married Oroondates Davis Alston, she died childless. (she is the one who set her slaves free)
  • 2.  Sophia McDaniel born ca 1788 married John L. Wood

Notes

Samuel went to Maury County, TN at some date, because he died there.  Estate of some size apparently, consisting of a large number of hogs, horses and about 25 slaves.  Estate records have not been found yet.  However, a court cases involving John L. Wood and wife and Oroon D. Alston and wife has been found in Maury County regarding the estate of Samuel McDaniel, who died intestate.  Date of this petition to court is June 29, 1829, Maury Co., TN. States that John L. Wood and Oroon D. Alston are of "other" states, not TN and all of Samuel McDaniel's estate was sold or moved without all of the claims against John L. Wood being satisfied.

The proof of the husbands of the Watts daughters is from the estate of Mariam McDaniel Alston.  It shows her sister as Sophia (Wood) (Woody?), and other next of kin after Sophia being Elizabeth, wife of Jacob McDaniel; Polly wife of Frederick Siler; Rebecca, wife of John McDaniel; Nancy "Nanny", wife of Aaron Aldridge; and Frankey,  wife of John Beck.
