According to a deed recorded in Hardin County, Kentucky in 1804, from Col. Francis Slaughter to his son-in-law James Crutcher, for a tract of land in Caroline County, Virginia, the ownership of the land is traced as follows: "First from Cadwallader Jones, to his daughter , Frances Jones, who married Robert [sic] Slaughter............"

Frances was born about 1680 in Virginia. She was the daughter of Cadwallader Jones and his wife Catherine. They had only one child, who was named after Cadwallader's mother, Frances. Frances' mother Catherine was possibly the widow of Robert Taliaferro, in which case, her maiden name was Debnam. Frances married Robert Slaughter about 1699, probably in Essex County, Virginia. They had three sons. Robert wrote his will and died in 1726 in Essex County, Virginia. Frances was alive at the time his will was written.
