Francis Marion Marion Overton

FRANCIS MARION OVERTON

Frank M. Overton, born November 8, 1873 in Mat Georgia, came to Old Greer County. Texas in 1896 to sever as deputy under his brother, Sheriff John Bibb Overton.

On August 2, 1899 he married Oma S. Smith at Ho** Oklahoma. They had four children: Lois, Ivan, Seldon

Marion

In 1908 he was elected as County Treasurer of Greer County. He served in this office two terms and was elected and served two terms as Greer County Commissioner.

I-He assumed the management and ownership of the Greer County Abstract Company in 1912. He was still active in company at the time of his death.

He was faithful to the Masonic Lodge, and was a member the Baptist Church of Mangum. He died January 23, 1953
