"Devol Service For Mrs. Hale
Mattie Phelia Overton Hale was born near Atlanta, Georgia, October 29, 1882 and died at Macon, Georgia, January 23, 1963.
Funeral services were conducted form the Baptist Church of Devol, Saturday at 2 pm with Rev. Frank Grantz, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Devol cemetery with Pearson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
At the age of 2, she accompanied her parents from Georgia to Texas and later to Ardmore. Her parents homesteaded in Harmon county and in 1918, she moved to Devol where she resided until her death.
Mrs. Hale was a member of the Methodist church and the Order of Eastern Star.
She ws preceded in death by her husband,James W. Hale on February 5, 1958. Mr. Hale was a pharmacist in Devol for many years.
She is survived by a son, James H. Hale of Kilgore, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Joe T. Sippel of Macon, Georgia and Mrs. Vera Mae King of Chilocco; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren."
