Drunk and wife-beater per 20 April 1886 Winona Daily Republican. Son-in-law of the Polish Methuselah, John Remus, who lived with the Stolpas at 807 Front Street. Sometimes known as "August" Stolpa.

Winona, April 19.— . Frank Stolpa was arrested yesterday by Officer Bronk for beating his wife. He was brought before Judge Allen at the municipal court this morning and sentenced to ninety days in the county jail.

Frank Stolpa died this morning at his home, 907 Front Street East at the age of fifty-three years. The deceased leaves a wife, a brother, Bernard Stolpa, and a sister, Mrs. August Schrelber of Breckenridge, Minn.
The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Stanislaus church and interment will be made in St. Mary's cemetery.
