About Frederick Henry Mellersh

Frederick Henry Mellersh was born at 4 Lansdowne Villas, Lillie Road, Fulham, Middlesex. By 2 years later, in 1858, at the birth of younger sister Louisa, the family had moved to 7 Rosa Villas, Lillie Road, Fulham, Middlesex. By 1866, when Frederick began school, the family was living at 1 Hermitage Villas, North End, Fulham, Middlesex. From 06 March 1866 to presumably 1872, Frederick attended Surrey County School, Cranleigh, near Godalming, Surrey [a small public school, founded in 1865, later re-named Cranleigh School] (younger brother Arthur Charles later also attended). Who paid the fees? - possibly by a relative or friend of father Edward John, or by the Onslow Estate (employer of paternal grandfather William)? From 1872 to 30 Dec 1918, Frederick was employed by the Sun Life Assurance Society in London. Frederick on 31 August 1882 living at 32 Lillie Road, Fulham, Middlesex married a girl next door, Florence Parker. By 1891 they were living at 34 Nicoll Road, Harlesdon, London, NW, and were still there in 1901 with their family [and nearby at no 38 was George C & Annie E Parker]. After 1901 they moved to St Albans, Hertfordshire, initially "Sherley," Clarence Road, and by the 1911 census to "Bridlemere," 31 Clarence Road. Soon after the start of the First World War in 1914, Frederick, Florence and their household accepted a Belgian refugee and her infant into their house ("Bridlemere") in St. Albans: Madame Maria Louwage and her daughter Vivienne (b 1912). Husband & father Monsieur Florent Louwage, a senior police officer, much later after WW2 became head of Interpol. Frederick died at Bridlemere, 31 Clarence Rd, St Albans Herts. He left over 12 grand in his will to sons Eric and Harold.
