About George Hübner

http://files.usgwarchives.net/pa/montgomery/history/family/h1560001...

"Dr. Melchior Hubner m. Maria WIEGNER, b. ?, d. Sept. 28, 1739, dau. of Matthias Wiegner of O. Hdrf. They left Silesia with their two children on Apr. 29, 1726 and came to Pa. in 1734, but only one child, George, is accounted for in Pa. "

"Children of Melchior HUBNER and Maria WIEGNER:

1. George (see below). 2. Eva, m. David Libtz in Gorlitz. 3. Maria, m. David Christopher Nicolai in Gorlitz. (Eva and Maria did not migrate.)

George HUBNER, b. about 1697, d. Nov. 3, 1773, came to Pa. in 1734 with his parents. He bought land in Frederick Twp., Montg. Co., Pa. He married in the presence of witnesses and elders, Nov. 22, 1738, Rosina KRIEBEL, b. ?, d. 25 Aug. 1745.

George Hubner settled in Falkner Swamp. On Jan. 28, 1736, he joined with Henry Antes in the purchase of 28 acres of land, and erected a grist mill on it, employing two sets of stones. This mill was the first in the community and was situated a short distance southwest of Stetler's Store.

George Hubner was naturalized, May 19, 1739. There was one child of this marriage, Melchior, b. 2 Jul 1742, d. 21 Dec 1744. Rosina Kriebel Hubner was buried in the Henry Antes plot in Frederick Twp.

On Jan 24 and 15, 1742, a Moravian Conference for the establishment of a Church Union of the various religious sects in Pa. led by Count Zinzendorf was held at Hubner's house, the minutes of which were printed.

George HUBNER married a second time, by a Justice of the Peace, May 16, 1749, Susanna SCHULTZ, b. Mar. 23, 1716, d. Nov. 4, 1773, dau. of Balthasar Schultz and Susanna Dieterich. In 1769, George Hubner bought 28 acres of land in Chestnut Hill, Phila. He moved to Chestnut Hill where both he and his second wife died and are probably buried in the Yeakle Cemetery, although no markers indicate their graves.

From letter of George Kriebel to Silesia: " George Heebner, Sr., died in the month of Nov., 1773. For many years he was weak and decrepit that it was surprising that he could live so long. Towards the last he lived with his brother-in-law, Christopher Yeakel, who had married his second wife's sister and they were obliged to wait on him as they would a child, on account of his feebleness until he passed into eternity."

From a book, title unknown, in possession of Ambrose Miller, Reading PA: "George Heebner (Jr.?) d. Nov. 2, 1772, aged 56 yrs. and 7 mo. Sister Maria d before the father who d July 12, 1738. An older sister d in Goerlitz. Mother d Sept. 28, 1739; Melchior d. Dec. 21, 1744; Rosina d 'Jacobus' day, 1745. On Nov 4, 1773, George Heebner d, the last known of Dr. Melchior Heebner's family."
