George MUNDY was born c1778 in Devon, UK ( son of Joseph MUNDY and Martha CLAYTON)

George was convicted at the Devonshire Assizes of burglary & stealing liquor from the house of Richard Beer. Was sentenced to death & then reprieved and transported for life.
Arrived on the 'Calcutta' with David Collins in the attempt to make a settlement at Port Phillip (Vic) in 1803. Was subsequently transferred to the 'Ocean' & arrived at Risdon Cove in 1804.

George married Ann Garland READING in 1811 in Hobart, Tasmania

He married In 1811 he married Ann Garland Reading, (born 1796 in Norfolk Island; died 1812, in Hobart), daughter of Andrew Reading(Redding) and Ann Galland; In 1813 he married Sarah Free (Israel), (born 1797 in Norfolk Island; died 1871 in Kangaroo Point, Sorell, Tasmania), daughter of Samuel Free (Convict - Salamander) and Elizabeth Smith.
Convicted at Devonshire in 1802, of stealing liquor; arrived in Hobart on the 'Calcutta'; pardoned in 1813.
Owned 50 acres in Hobart Town then moved to Clarence Plains.
