Georgia Anna Smith

Georgia Anna was born 5 Nov 1858 in the old town of Cacheville, Yolo Co., CA. She was the 6th of 7 children born to John Milton Spriggs & Sarah Adaline (Carroll) Spriggs, who emigrated from GA about 1852.

 The family story says that she is related to Charles Carroll of Carrollton, Maryland, a signer of the Declaration of Independance, but that has not been proved.

 She is buried next to her husband, Hugh E. Smith, but there is no headstone, although the cemetery does have a record of their graves.

OBITUARY - "Colusa Hearld" Jan 22, 1929

 "Mrs. Georgia Ann Smith, 70 years old and a native of California died last night at Arbuckle Sanitarium.

 She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Irene Griffen, Lewis Smith, Carl Smith, Leo Smith, George Smith, and Mrs. Zella Long[sic]*.

 Funeral Services will be held from Our Lady Of Lourdes church Thurs. Morning at 9:30 o'clock.  Interment will be under direction of Sullivan Brothers in the Catholic Cemetery."

 *Mrs. Zella Long[sic] is her daughter Zela Smith Anderson Long (later she married Mr. Johnnie Herman) Note: NO MARKER AT THIS TIME
