From FALLS CHURCH BY FENCE AND FIRESIDE, pg. 444: Gerrard Trammell, a brother of John Trammell, Sr., was b. about 1702 and died near Falls Church in 1786. He made his will on Nov. 16, 1775.... The children of Gerrard and Mary Trammell included Philip, Ann Thrift (ancestor of the Balls of Arlington including the author's wife); Rebecca, Mary Conn, Gerrard, Jr., Thomas, Priscilla Dyal and Margaret, wife of Samuel Jenkins. Mary Trammell m. Hugh Conn (who d. in Loudoun Co. in 1772). Conn lived near Bladensburg, Md., and moved to Fairfax at an early day. He owned a "vessell" on the Potomac which he had for hire in 1760. Their children included Jane Conn who m. Michael Ashford before June 12, 1772, Jane and Michael Ashford's descendants intermarried with descendants of Sampson Trammell, Jr. One descendant was Margaret Conn, wife of Capt. Rezin Wilcoxon. Capt. Sampson Trammell, Sr., a brother to John Trammell, Sr., and Gerrard Trammell, Sr., lived in 1784 two miles west of Falls Church and George Washington and Dr. Craik were entertained there with dinner enroute to Washington's western lands. There are numerous descendants of the Trammell family in Falls Church. A recent member of the family was James Philip Trammell (March 31, 1843-Sept. 18, 1929) Oakwood Cemetery.

FALLS CHURCH BY FENCE AND FIRESIDE, pg. 42: "Liquor was supplied to the Inn [Lindsay's old Tavern] from a local source. A still was located on what is now a portion of the Benjamin Klock property-- perhaps this was the Trammell still, at any rate, Mr. Leonard seemed to think so. Among items bequeathed by Gerrard Trammell (in a will dated Nov. 16, 1775, at Fairfax Court House) was a "still and warm pone mash" left to a grandson and namesake, Gerrard Trammell".

Gerrard was a constable, surveyor, and began military service in the French and Indian War.

One of the fieldstone markers moved to Falls Church Cemetery was inscribed "GT Ded/June 23, 1786/aged 85 (or 86) yr." This would fit the dates for Gerrard Trammell, but we have no proof that this was his grave stone. Mention of his brothers, John & William are said to have been found in other cemetery records of the area.
