Gerritt Aertsen MIDDAGH was born about 1664 in Brooklyn, NY, and christened in 1664. Gerritt died before 21 Sep 1710 in Brooklyn, Queens, NY. His will is dated 9/6/1709 and was proven 9/21/1710.

Gerritt took the Oath of Allegiance at Brooklyn in September, 1687 stating he was a native. His name appears on the tax role of Brooklyn in 1698 and he was a witness at the Brooklyn DRC on 9/8/1698. His will, dated 9/8/1709 and probated in NY on 9/21/1710, names his wife and 4 children. There is additional information on Gerritt and his family in the Somerset County Historical Society Quarterly Vol. 6, Pgs. 114-115, on Page 246 of Frank Allaben's book "The Ancestry of Leander Howard Crall" and in an article "Middagh Memorandum" by John Neafie in Volume IX of the Proceedings of the New Jersey Historical Society. Gerrit is listed as one of the children returning to New Amsterdam/New York in March of 1683 with his father, Aert Theuniszen MIDDAGH.

He married Cornelia Janse VAN COUWENHOVEN 25 Sep 1691 in Flatbush, NY. Gerritt and Cornelia were married under the auspices of the the Flatbush (Flatlands) DRC. While the place of the marriage is uncertain the DRC records indicate it was in Flatbush. Whether that means under the jurisdiction of the Flatbush Church or actually in Flatbush is uncertain. It is recorded in the Flatbush DRC as marriage record #94 and the record states they were residing in Brooklyn when they were married.
