BIR-MAR-DEATH of first husband:Flakstad Parish Records; FHL film 125095; Vol. 3, Vol. 5, p. 213, #2; p. 44, #16.
She emigrated to the U.S. in June 1882. Ship "Hero" from Trondheim. FHL film 362609; Passenger # 4225. Listed Duluth as the place to which she was going. That ship only went as far as Hull in England. From there she would have taken a train across England through Manchester and Leeds to Liverpool. Here she would have taken a ship to North America. On the ships manifist she was listed as Gjertine Andreasen. From Hull she would have taken a train across to Liverpool where she sailed on the" SS City of Rome" of the Inman Line. It left 15 June 1882 and landed in New York 26 June 1882. How she went on to Duluth I do not know at this time. (29 Dec. 2012) A man named Cliff Lien on the Norway List sent me this last information cjl@interbaun.com
She is buried in a plot owned by her father-in-law Otto Hansen. The records for that year have burned. Her death year is unsure. I have checked the church records of the Danish Lutheran Church in Superior Wisconsin which are now at Concordia Church on John Ave. No death records.
My maternal grandmother. (CJHR)
