GEDCOM Note

1860 Perry County Census shows him age 1 year old and birth record agrees with this so Green Holliday Bible record is not correct it seems. Death record gave his birth as 1865 and that is not correct as well.

ON 6/1/1899 GREEN AND NANCY HOLIDAY DEEDED LAND TO POLLEY ANN COMBS

DEED BOOK 2 PAGE 142, ON TROUBLESESOME CREEK IN KNOTT CO, KY

ON 8/20/1906, MORTGAGE, SALLIE B SIMPSON, MR, BOOK 1 PAGE 427, KNOTT CO

ON 5/10/1917, GREEN AND NANCY HOLIDAY ENTERED INTO AGREEMENT(LEASE) WITH D B. SMITH LR BOOK 6, PAGE 337, IN KNOTT CO.

EARLY 1910 CENSUS SAID 3 CHILDREN 2 LIVING SO GREEN AND & NANCY MUST HAVE HAD A INFANT BORN DEAD OR DIED YOUNG. THERE ARE TWO UNMARKED GRAVES IN THE HOLLIDAY CEMETERY ON BIG BRANCH OF TROUBLESOME CREEK THAT FOR YEARS NO ONE KNEW WHO THEY BELONGED TO. ONE MUST HAVE BEEN GREEN AND NANCYS INFANT. THE OTHER ONE WE FOUND OUT WAS A INFANT OF MONROE AND CINDY HOLLIDAY THAT WAS BORN AND DIED IN THEYEAR OF 1917 AS RECORDED IN THE STATE BIRTH AND DEATH RECORDS. SOME OF THE FAMILY MEMBERS REMEMBERED HEARING OF THEM TALK ABOUT IT AFTER THE RECORDS WERE FOUND. WHEN AND IF WE CAN FIGURE OUT WHICH ONE IS WHICH I WILL ARRANGE FOR SOME HEADSTONES FOR THEM, OR HAVE ONE FOR BOTH. THERE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A INFANT BURIED ON THE HILL BESIDE THE OLD HOUSE THAT USED TO STAND JUST ABOVE THE NEWEST HOUSE ONBIG BRANCH. IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE MARKED WITH A STONE STICKING OUT OF THE GROUND.

GREEN AND NANCY FIRST LIVED AT ARY JUST BELOW WHERE JOHN CHANCEYS TRUCK GARAGE IS NOW ACROSS THE CREEK OR IN THAT AREA.

THEY LATER MOVED TO BIG BRANCH AFTER SHE INHERITED THE BIG BRANCH PROPERTY. IN THOSE DAYS IT WAS UNUSUAL FOR A DAUGHTER TO INHERIT LAND. THEY USALLY INHERITED THE MONEY WITH THE LAND GOING TO THE SONS. NANCY'S FATHER (NATIONAL CORNETT) MUST NOT HAVE HAD ANY MONEY BUT LOTS OF LAND WHEN HE DIED.

GREEN AND NANCY MOVED TO BIG BRANCH FROM ARY WHEN MONROE WAS EIGHT. THEY REPORTLY LIVED NEAR THE MOUTH OF WILLIAMS BRANCH AT ARY. THERE WAS A LOG CABIN NEAR THE HEAD OF THE RIGHT FORK OF THE HOLLIDAY HOMESTEAD ON BIG BRANCH. MONROE & CINDY LIVED IN THIS CABIN WHEN THEY FIRST GOT MARRIED. THE SECOND HOUSE WAS LIVED IN MY S.D.COMBS AND POLLY WHEN THEY FIRST GOT MARRIED. NOTHING REMAINS SHOWING EVIDENCE A HOUSE EVER STOOD IN THESE TWO SPOTS. THE CHIMMEY IS ALL THAT REMAINS OF THE THIRD HOUSE THAT WAS BUILT.

WE HAVE SOME TIN TYPES (OLD PICTURES MADE ON TIN) OF GREEN WHEN HE WAS A YOUND MAN AND HIS WIFE NANCH CORNETT. AND THIER CHILDREN MONROE AND BERTHA. I HAVE HAD 8/10 PICTURES MADE FROM THEM. ONE TINTYPE HAS BEEN GLUED TO A WALL COVERED WITH NEWSPAPER AND WHEN TORN OFF HAS A DATE ON THE BACK OF THE NEWSPAPER OF 1916.

Green's Ky death Certification no 13840 list Knott as place of death, city of Hindman. Date of death as March 5, 1922. M Kelly attended him from march 1, 1922 to march 5, 1922. and he died of influenza at 2 pm.

In error it says he wasw burid Cornett Cemetery March 7, 1922 and the under taker was Monroe Holiday. He was also listed as a white male, married and born Feb 5, 1865 (this is in conflict with other date) and being as 57 yrs and 1month of age. He was listed as a Farmer. and was born in Ky. His father was listed as Tolbert Holiday born in ky and his mother was Sussie Martin born in Ky (name of mother in conflict as it should have been Rachel Napier unless Tolbert fooled around and had him as a illegimate kid which was a common trait as Tolbert's dad John H. D. did also and Green himself did and his son Monroe did also. My aunts and Uncles are straight though. Must be the Fields in them). Death certifcation can be in error . one error I know for sure is place of burial was Holiday cem instead of Cornett but they may have changed their mind later.

Found in Aunt Bertha's papers were a lawsuit by the Cornetts against Green over the property in big Branch. Also appeared in Appeal Court.

In it is a list of questions to ask written by Green Holliday and in his own handwriting.

July 18, 1898 in Knott County Court Orders page

Ordered by the court that Green Holliday he and he is apponted Superintenant of the building of a new Road leading from the Lower end of Robin Cornett farm on Troublesome, thence up Troublesome tothe corporation line of Hindman, opposite the dwelling house of T. B.Student and he is required to make and build said road by digging 12 feet wide and clearing 30 feet wide and by cutting 14 feet overhead as law directs and he is allowed all the road hands in said boundary except the hand on Ogden Creek.

June Court, 1889 Knott County Ky

Green was in court as defendant with Kelly Francis as Plaintiff. Case dropped at request of Plaintiff and cost paid by Plaintiff in attachment.
