per Bob Chesler in a letter of 3/24/84 to Elinor:
"Grandmother Chesler's maiden name is shown on the transcript of birth of Elias Jarmalowsky as Annie EDIZSKY. The transcript does not show his full name , Gustave."
"Your research shows that the family name was changed from Jarmalowsky to Chesler by the 1910 Census, yet my mother clearly remembers that my father was in some branch of the US Navy under the name of Jarmalowsky during WWI as that was the name stencilled on his boot bag. However they were maaried under the name Chesler and all of us children were born with the name Chesler".
per Charles Chester 7/09:
" our fathers father was born Abraham Jarmulowsky on the 6th of August 1900 in Manhattan, New York, New York, USA, he was a twin his brother being Elias Jarmulowsky. I do not know which was born first but I have found their birth registry in New York.

Jacob Chesler used the name Jacob Jarmulowsky, listed as a plumber for occupation. "
