About Reuben (Robert Malbridge) Chesler
Reuben Chesler was the youngest, except for Gus and Arthur. It was difficult to be young in a large family living in a poor tenement. He ran away to Canada at age 15, changing his name to Robert. He added the middle name Malbridge, perhaps after a man who helped him get established up there, or perhaps made up. Probably Arthur took that middle name knowing about Bob's. The war started in 1914 and he joined the Canadian Highlanders, the Princess Pat Regiment. He was in some terrible battles, at Ypres, Flanders, and Paschendale, and was gassed. He survived 4 years in the regiment, against long odds, and became a Captain. Then he lived in Connecticut, working for the Universal Appliance Company, selling electrical appliances.

According to Roberta Irgens-Moller, Robert moved to Culver city (California) in 1931, and was employed at the MGM studios until he retired in the early 1960.
He volunteered in the second world war, taking pictures, mainly from aircrafts.
