About Maxwell (Max or Maxie) Chesler
"New York, New York City Marriage Records, 1829-1940," database, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q2C6-HYPC : 22 July 2021), Maxwell M Chesler and Frances Browdin Or Brodoin, 21 Sep 1924; citing Marriage, Kings, New York, United States, New York City Municipal Archives, New York; FHL microfilm 1,614,638.
"Max Chesler was in the Cavalry. Norman has a vivid memory of Max visiting on a white stallion when Norman was young. Norman was the envy of the neighborhood for at least two weeks after that. Max had auburn hair. Max was the warmest of all the Chesler brothers and the most approachable, according to Arthur Simon and Norman Chesler."
told to Art Chester by Norman Chesler
Barbara West said: "About Maxie, he was definitely the warm friendly, fun-loving uncle. He had evidently taught some of the Essex County, N.J. police how to ride horseback, and was awarded some kind of honorary status, as sheriff. He was gi ven a whistle, which he used to blow at "Sunday drivers", as he drove us to Sea Bright for a day at the beach! As a kid, I thought this was very funny. He was the manager of the large Industrial Office Building in Newark, and gave me a summer job there one year, substituting for the switchboard operator when she was on vacation. He "crashed" my wedding party. I had had mumps just before getting married, and at that time quarantines for infectious diseases were very strict.. So it was during that quarantine period when Murray and I were married. It had to be moved to my mother and father's tiny apartment, and mother cooked the luncheon, which was served by a neighbor. So no family outside of immediate was invited. That of course did not stop Maxie!"
