Notes

Hammond "Married Rebeckah Glasier, aunt of Stephen, John and DuncanGlasier. They lived for a time in Lincoln. In 1809 he applied for land atLittle River which apparently he got and farmed. Rebeckah was probablysomewhat older than her husband. The Glasiers owned a large section of land in Lincoln and evidently gaveRebeckah a small property there. Her children were born and grew up inLincoln. Hammond was probably employed in the Glasier lumberingoperations, and her sons also as they grew up. Possibly their tenureended at her death. Rebeckah died about 1816. Hammond and four of hissons decided to exchange lumbering for farming and migrated to Amity, south of Houlton in Maine. Apparently Hammond married a second time, a widow, Catherine [Glasier]Estabrooks. She had two daughters by her first husband Elizabeth andElzie? Hammond moved from New Brunswick to Amity, Maine in 1840. It is reportedthat all the children went except Winslow who moved to Grand Falls, NewBrunswick, Cavalier who lived at Sheffield, Sunbury Co, New Brunswick andLilliam who remained in New Brunswick. Hammond left his son Jedediah his father's farm in Amity, Maine.
