Biography

Hannah was born to Thomas Doty (1640-1678) and Mary (Churchill) Doty in December 1675 in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony. The birth record does not record the specific date. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

Hannah was mentioned in the inventory of the will of Hannah (Pontus) Churchill, her grandmother, 17 March 1690/1. [6]

On 12 March 1698, in Duxbury, Hannah married Jonathan Delano. [7] [8] [4] [5]

Jonathan and Hannah had eleven children, all born in Duxbury:

Other Notes and Research Issues

Hannah was the grand-daughter of Edward Doty, a Mayflower pilgrim. [4]

A previous version of this profile made this unsourced claim: "Hannah's parents died soon after her birth Thomas Doty (Edward) d.5 Dec 1678 (age 38), Plymouth and Hannah's mother Mary Churchill d.before 1678, Plymouth (age 23)." The claim is correct about Thomas's death (although the name "Edward" is questionable). The claim is flatly incorrect with regard to Mary, who actually lived beyond 21 October 1725. [12] [13]

Hannah's stated age at death raises a question about her date of birth. Performing the arithmetic suggests that she was born in December 1676, rather than 1675.
