About Harry John Battenburg
Harry & Nicholas Battenburg were twins. Harry was deaf during his youth and because of his inability to cope with normal educational channels was able to get into an apprentice program to learn the printing trade.
Harry fared well at R. R. Donnelley and advanced to become one of the company managers. He was probably the family's best money earner. His deafness was later cured when a doctor determined that the hearing loss was caused by a nose injury suffered in a fall in one of the city parks. He had run up the slope side of an arched bridge over a canal not expecting there to be steps on the far side. He tumbled down the steps. A corrective operation cured the deafness.
He was divorced March 29, 1943 from Jeanette in Chicago, Illinois. He later moved to Norman, Oklahoma with Erma and started a printing business called Battenburg Press.
After many years in Norman, Oklahoma he and Erma moved to Kent, Washington and sold printing forms for Norick Company. Harry died in an automobile accident. He was cremated and buried in Hillcrest Burial Park, Kent, Washington.
