Harry Warner

Harry Morris Warner (born Hirsch Moses Wonsal) was an American studio executive, one of the founders of Warner Bros., and a major contributor to the development of the film industry. Along with his three brothers, Warner played a crucial role in the film business and played a key role in establishing Warner Bros. Pictures, Inc, serving as the company president until 1956.

The Warner Brothers were Harry, Sam, Albert, and Jack Warner. They were the sons of Polish immigrants. Their father arrived in the United States in 1887. The rest of the immediate family, with the exception of four children who had died in Poland, did not arrive until 1895.

ביוגרפיה וורנר נולד כ"הירש איכלבאום" בעיירה קראסנושיילץ, במחוז מזוביה בפולין. הוא היגר עם משפחתו לקנדה בשנות ה-80 המוקדמות של המאה ה-19 ומשם לאוהיו שבארצות הברית.

במאי 1956 מכר הארי, יחד עם אחיו אלברט, את חלקו בחברת האחים וורנר והשניים עזבו את העסק המשפחתי. אחיו, ג'ק, קנה 90% ממניות החברה בסתר ומינה את עצמו לנשיא החברה. הארי גילה על כך בעיתון, והתמוטט יום לאחר מכן כתוצאה מאוטם שריר הלב. כשהיה בבית החולים, קיבל הארי שבץ מוחי. כתוצאה מהשבץ, הליכתו נפגעה והיה צריך להיעזר במקל הליכה.

נפטר ב- 27 ביולי 1958 מחסימה מוחית, אך מספר אנשים שהיו קרובים אמרו כי מת משברון לב. אשתו אמרה לאחר ההלוויה שהארי "לא מת, ג'ק הרג אותו". על תרומתו הרבה לקולנוע קיים 'כוכב' בשדרת הכוכבים של הוליווד, וורנר קבור בבית הקברות "בית שלום" במזרח לוס אנג'לס, קליפורניה.
