CREEDMOOR - HELEN Nevils DAGUE, 85, a resident of Hillside Nursing Center in Wake Forest, died Sunday, December 3, at Raleigh Community Hospital.
A native of Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Mary Veazey Washington. She lived in Creedmoor for 55 years before moving to Palatka, Fla. She was a beloved mother and Nana to her children and family. She worked as a buyer and manager of lingerie at Baldwin's Department Store and Montaldo's in Durham for many years. HELEN served as associate matron of the South Granville Benjamin Stanfield Chapter no.46 of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church by the Rev. Donnie Brown. Burial will be in the Creedmoor Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Ralph Thomas Nevils Jr. and his wife, Anita, of Raleigh; a sister, Billie Garner, of Durham; a brother, Harold Washington, of Creedmoor; three grandchildren, Stacy Nevils Collins, of Columbia, S.C., Ralph T. Nevils III, of Henderson, and Lisa Nevils Colvin, of Creedmoor; one step-grandchild, Michael Burgess, of Raleigh; devoted niece, Gayle Adams, of Wake Forest; 12 nieces and eight nephews; five great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
