OXFORD -- Mr. Sherrill Fred WASHINGTON, age 74, of 208 East Front Street, died Tuesday, June 23, at his home.

A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late T.H. and Mary Veazey WASHINGTON, he was retired from the Auto-Motive Business, was a veteran of WW II, a member of Oxford Masonic Lodge #122 A.F. & A.M. a member of Oxford Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon, a member of the Granville County Historical Society. He was a former member of the Oxford Kiwanis Club, where he served as Secretary-Treasurer for nearly 40 years and a former member of the Oxford Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 25, from Oxford Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. J. Steven Bolton, burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Coral Wiggins WASHINGTON, of the home; 2 sons, Royster & wife, Isabel WASHINGTON of Oxford, NC., Herbert & wife, Gail WASHINGTON of Henderson, NC.; 2 grandchildren, Yancy and Fairley WASHINGTON, of Oxford, NC.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Billie Garner of Durham, NC., Mrs. Helen Dague, of San Mateo, FL.; 1 brother, Harold WASHINGTON, of Creedmoor, NC.
