===============================
Henry Norris Dryden snr. fought in the Second Anglo-Boer War with the Duke of Edinburgh's Own Volunteer Rifles (Regimental No.1483) and in World War One with the 1st South African Infantry (Service No.: 14395). He was in WW1 from 1917, captured as a Prisoner of War in 1918, and discharged in 1919.
Henry was captured as a POW on either 23 Mar. 1918 or 26 Mar. 1918 (his records held by the Red Cross differ on the exact date of capture, recorded at different times); he was possibly captured at the Battle of St. Quentin (21 - 23 Mar. 1918).
He seems to have been at two POW camps, first at Hammerstein in June 1918 (modern day Czarne, Poland), though that camp seems to have been for Russian POWs; in Nov. 1918 he was at Schneidemühl (modern day Piła, Poland).
