Jean-Marie-Rodrigue Villeneuve, OMI, was a Canadian Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Quebec from 1931 and as Cardinal from 1933 until his death in 1947. He was ordained on 25 May 1907 in Lachine, Quebec. He earned a doctorate in philosophy in 1919, a doctorate in theology in 1922 and a doctorate in canon law in 1930, all from University of Ottawa. He was opposed to wearing shorts, freedom of the press, freedom of religion and freedom of thought and belived that granting women the right to vote would have negative effects on paternal authority and family unity.
