Capt. Hope Lothrop, the 10th child & 7th son of Capt. Joseph Lothrop (Rev. John,1) & Mary Ansel, was b. of record at Barnstable, Mass. on July 15, 1671, and d. testate at Tolland, Conn. on Oct. 29, 1734, Æ 64. He was the grandson of Rev. John Lothrop, founder of the Barnstable, Mass. Congregational Church. Hope was the only child of his parents to eventually settle at Tolland, Conn.

On Dec. 17, 1696 at Barnstable, Mass. (by Rev. Russell of the Barnstable 1st Chh.), Hope m. Elizabeth Lothrop, his 1st cousin once removed, dau. of Melatiah Lothrop (Thomas,2 Rev. John,1) and Sarah Farrar. She was b. at Barnstable on Nov. 23, 1677 and d. at Tolland, Conn. on Feb 21, 1763, Æ 86. Their children, the first two b. of record at Barnstable and the rest at Falmouth, Mass., are:

• i. Benjamin Lothrop, b. Oct. 18, 1697, d. testate at Windham, Conn. on June 16, 1758, Æ 86; m. Mercy Baker at Barnstable, Mass. on May 26, 1720, dau. of Dea. John Baker & Anna Annable. She was b. at Barnstable on Aug. 18, 1699 and d. at Windham, Conn. on June 16, 1777, Æ 78.

• ii. Capt. & Deac. John Lothrop, b. Oct. 3, 1699, d. at Tolland, Conn. on Oct. 17, 1752, Æ 54; m. Ann Thacher at Yarmouth, Mass. on May 31, 1722, dau. of Col. John Thacher, Esq. and Lydia Gorham. She was b. at Yarmouth June 7, 1697 and d. at Tolland, Conn. on Mar. 12, 1756, Æ 59.

• iii. Rebecca Lothrop, b. Nov. 25, 1701, purportedly d. at Guilford, Conn. on June 22, 1747, Æ 46; m. on May 14, 1719 at Barnstable, Edward Lewis, s. of John Lewis & Elizabeth Huckins. He was b. at Barnstable on Sept. 6, 1697 and d. at Litchfield, Conn. circa 1789.

• iv. Sarah Lothrop, b. Dec. 31, 1703, d. at Rochester, Mass. on Nov. 9, 1734, Æ 31; m. after an intention filed at Rochester on Jan. 26, 1724/5, Jabez Hammond, s. of John Hammond & Mary Arnold. He was b. on Feb. 26, 1698/9 and m. 2) Abigail Faunce at Plymouth, Mass. on May 12, 1736.

• v. Ebenezer Lothrop, b. May 1, 1706; d. Sept. 1752, Æ 47.

• vi. Ichabod Lothrop, b. Jan. 20, 1707/8, d. at Tolland, Conn. on Oct. 28, 1752, Æ 45; m. on Nov. 9, 1732 at Barnstable, Abigail Baker, the sister of his brother Benjamin's wife. She was b. at Barnstable on Feb 1, 1713/4 and m. 2) at Tolland, Conn. on Nov. 26, 1754 as his 2nd wife, Samuel West, son of Dea. Francis West of Tolland.

• vii. Solomon Lothrop, b. Sep. 10, 1710, d. testate at Bolton, Conn. on Mar. 5, 1737/8, Æ 28. He m. a Susanna, whose maiden name remains unknown; she m. 2nd Matthew Loomis of Bolton, Conn.

• viii. Elizabeth Lothrop, b. June 20, 1712, d. at Lee, Mass. on Mar. 17, 1800, Æ 88; m. Peletiah West at Tolland, Conn. on Dec. 5, 1734, son of Dea. Francis West and Mercy Minor. He was bapt. Sep. 30, 1711 at Stonington, Conn. and d. at Lee, Mass. on July 11, 1787, Æ 76.

• xi. Dea. Joseph Lothrop, b. on Sept. 12, 1720, d. at Tolland on July 6, 1788, Æ 68; m. on June 27, 1744 at Tolland to Prudence West, dau. of Samuel West & his 1st wife Sarah Delano. She was b. at Tolland on Sept. 5, 1726 and d. at Tolland on Sept. 5, 1808, Æ 89.
