About Howard F. Esmay
Howard Esmay, 92, died Nov. 1 after an extended illness at his home in the Point Loma area of San Diego, Calif.
Mr. Esmay was born to John and Eva Beasley Esmay in Sabula, Iowa and arrived in Douglas on April 1, 1900.
Mr. Esmay had been in the banking business all of his adult life, having started with the First National Bank in Douglas, Wyoming in 1913 as bookkeeper and stenographer. He left First National Bank to go with Converse County Bank as manager in 1923 and was elected to the presidency in 1936. In 1951 he sold his controlling interest in this bank and moved to La Jolla, Calif., where he was associated with the La Jolla Branch of Security Trust and Savings Bank of San Diego. In January, 1956, he moved to Gillette, as manager of Stockmens Bank and Trust Co., and in 1965 was elected chairman of the board.
Mr. Esmay was very active in community service belonging to many local, county and state organizations.
He is survived by his wife Helen; daughter, Marsha; two nephews, Rholdoph Esmay and Eden Prairie of Minnesota; and Dr. John Esmay of Cheyenne.
