Isaac Larimer, Jr. was born in Fairfield County, Ohio, near Bremen, in the year 1808. He was a man of great decision of character, strong intellectually and vigorous thought, having a fine command of language he was forceful and ready public speaker in an impromptu way. His fountain of knowledge was not fed so much by scholastic training as by self application and careful study of the best literature and of the fine problems of the day.

He had clearly defined political convictions, he was a Democrat and a strong advocate of abolition, though at variance with the majority of his party in the crucial period culminating in the war of the Rebellion. He was held in high estimation by the people of Perry, Hocking and Fairfield Counties which he represented with efficiency in the Ohio State Legislature in the years 1848-1849. "Wiseman's History of Fairfield Co., Page 352". He was a strong advocate for the cause of Abolition during the Lincoln-Douglas Campaign and was a great admirer of the martyr President.

In religion his faith was that of The Presbyterian Church and he was an officer in the church at the time of his death in the year 1874, Greenville, Ohio. Isaac Larimer Jr., arrived in Darke County, Ohio in 1865, purchased land in Greenville Twp., where he made his home, married Miss Margaret Ray in 1834. She was an Ohio native, born 1813, died 1873.
