Original Last Will & Testament of Isaac Miles of Milford, as found in his probate packet. The will had been folded into a small shape for filing, and labeled as follows:

Last Will of
Isaac Miles Esqr. Recd. Dec. 27, 1780

In the Name of God Amen, I Isaac Miles of Milford in the County of New haven and State of Connecticut being weak of Body but of sound Mind and Memory thanks be God therefore do this 13th Day of Novr. one thousand seven hundred and eighty make & ordain this my last Will and Testament, in the following manner, Imprimis, I give and Bequeath my Precious Soul to allmighty God in and through Jesus Christ my Glorious Redeemer, and my Body to be interred in a Christian way and manner at the Discretion of my Executors whom I shall herein and hereafter nominate and appoint. And as for those worldly Goods and Estate which God hath been pleased to bestow upon me, I dispose of in the following way and manner.

Imprimis my Will is and I do hereby order and appoint that my just debts and funeral charges be first paid out of my Estate by my Executors.

Item, I give and Bequeath unto my beloved Wife Catharine Miles the use and Improvement of the one third part of my dwelling House & home lot during her natural Life also the Interest that shall or may arise upon seven hundred Pounds deposited in the Continental Loan office before the first Day of Septr. 1777 during the Time she shall remain my Widow.

Item, I give and Bequeath unto my three Daughters Mrs. Catharine Wales, Susanna Miles, and Mary Miles, and to their Heirs and Assigns forever, all the rest, residue and remaining part of my Estate both Real & Personal, Movable, & Immovable including that third part given to my beloved Wife to be improved by her as aforesd. to be equally divided between them the said Catharine Wales, Susana Miles & Mary Miles (except deducting out two hundred & eighty Pounds lawful money out of said Catharine Wales part which has been advanced her out of my Estate by way of Portion).

Item I give to my Daughter Susanna Miles the use & Improvement of the North Chamber in my dwelling House & to Mary Miles the use & Improvement of the South Chamber in sd. House so long as they shall continue single and unmarried, also a Right in the Fletcher Cellar & Well with Liberty to Pass & repass to and from the same.

Item my Will is and I do hereby nominate and appoint my loving Wife Catharine Miles & Gideon Buckingham Esqr. to be ye Executors of this my last Will and Testament and do hereby make void & disannul all other Wills heretofore made by me & do hereby ratify & confirm this and this only to be my last Will & Testament, In Witness and Confirmation of which I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal the Day and Date above written.

Personall appeared Messrs. John Herpin, Jabez B. Bull and Capt. Peter Perrit and made oath that they saw the within Testator Isaac Miles Esqr. sign the within Will and that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament, and that at that time in their opinion he was of sound Mind & Memory, and they signed the same as Witnesses in the Presence of the within Testator and of each other, before me,
