I Catharine Pond of Milford -- New Haven County and State of Connecticut -- aged 78 years -- being first duly sworn according to law do depose and say that from my youth I have been well acquainted with Mary Dickinson -- whose maiden name was Mary Miles -- I have long been her near neighbor in said Milford -- that I was present when said Mary was married to Sylvanus Dickinson by the Revd. Samuel Wales who was a settled minister in said Milford for a number of years & has long been dead; that I do not know any person now living who was present at the wedding excepted Mary and myself: that said Mary now is the widow of said Sylvanus Dickinson.

State of Connecticut -- New Haven County, Milford.

On this 14th day of September A.D. 1838 personally appeared before the Court of Probate in the District of Milford, Mary Dickinson a resident of said Milford -- aged 78 years -- who being first duly sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the Act of Congress passed July 7, 1838 -- entitled an Act granting half pay & provisions to contain widows; that she is the widow of Sylvanus Dickinson who was a Lieutenant in Colonel Sheldon's Regiment in the army of the Revolution; that said Sylvanus Dickinson was a pensioner & received 20 dollars a month to the time of his death, and for a particular account of his services reference may be had to the papers of said Sylvanus Dickinson now in the pension office in Washington.

She further declares that she was married to said Sylvanus Dickinson on the 18th day of June in the year Seventeen hundred & eighty two by the Red. Samuel Wales who was a settled minister in Milford for nine years -- he died some years since & no records of his marriages have come to my knowledge -- that her husband Sylvanus Dickinson died on the 22d day of July 1832 -- that she was not married to him prior to his leaving the service -- but afterwards -- and that the marriage took place previous to the first day of January Seventeen hundred & ninety four -- viz, -- on the 18th of June 1782: and that she now is the widow of said Sylvanus Dickinson.

State of Connecticut, County of New Haven SS. Milford.

On this 28th day of March A.D. 1839 personally appeared before the Court of Probate in the District of Milford Mary Dickinson aged 78 years who being first duly sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following supplemental declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provisions made by the Act of Congress passed July 7th 1838 entitled An Act granting half pay and pensions to certain widows -- that as the wife of Sylvanus Dickinson now deceased she was the mother of eleven children whose births were as follows which are verified by her own recollection & by the records in the family Bible viz: Susan M. Dickinson was born August 26, 1783; Isaac Dickinson & Catherine Dickinson (twins) born June 17, 1785; William Dickinson born June 24, 1787; Henry Dickinson born December 11, 1788; Mary Dickinson born June 22d 1791; Samuel Wales Dickinson born April 10th 1793; Elizabeth Coles Dickinson born March 26, 1795; An infant born May 14, 1796 & died May 21, 1796; Letitia Dickinson born March 6, 1799; Townsend Dickinson born July 22, 1800. Seven children are living & four are dead. The Red. Samuel Wales who married me to Sylvanus Dickinson on the 18th of June 1782 was the husband of my sister Catharine. Sworn to and subscribed on the day and year above written.
