About Isabel Harrington
Isabel was the daughter of William Harrington and Margaret de Neville.
She married John le Boteler in 1411 and he died on September 12, 1430.
Five years after the death of her husband, Sir John le Boteler, she was living with her children in her manor house at Bewsey. On Monday before the feast of St. James the apostle ( July 22, 1437), William Poole broke into her home, raped Lady Isabel, carried her away and kept her imprisoned until the next Tuesday when he forced her to marry him at the Bidston church. Once he returned her to Birkenhead, William le Poole fled to avoid arrest.
She presented two petitions to parliament begging parliament to hold William Poole as a person attainted of high treason if he did not surrender and take his trial upon the indictment against him in Lancashire. This was followed by the death of her father, Sir William Harynton on September 19, 1440 and the death of her mother-in-law, Elizabeth Ferrar the same year. Isabel herself died the next year on May 22.
