Reverend Leibensperger recorded as follows: "Born Nov. 7, 1817 in Warwick Twp. Died March 31, 1901 in Lexington, Pa. Buried: April 4, 1901 - Brickerville Son of John Zartman & his wife, Regina (nee Steiner). Baptized in infancy by Rev. W. Bates. Confirmed in youth & received as a member of Emanuel Luth. Ch., Brickerville. Life long member, Married in 1840 to Catharine Weidman. She preceded him in death 5 yrs. He was a member of ch. council many times. His disease was apoplexy & pneumonia. Funeral at 9 a.m. Aged 83-4-24."

Lititz Express, Lititz, Pa., Apr. 5, 1901, p. 1: "Israel Zartman Dead Israel Zartman, one of the oldest and best known residents of Lexington, Warwick township, died on Sunday afternoon at the residence of his son Addison, where he had his home. Death resulted from pneumonia after a week's illness. He was 83 years, 4 months and 14 days old. In younger years he was a farmer and also a carpenter; he also carried on the undertaker business for a number of years, but for the past ten years he has lived retired. His wife died five years ago. He was one of the oldest members of the Emanuel's Lutheran church at Brickerville. He was one of the organizers of the Penn Township Mutual Fire Insurance and was a director of it until several years ago when he would not accept it anymore on account of old age. He was also one of the organizers of the Lititz National bank and a director at the time of his death. Deceased is survived by two sons, Addison and Martin, both living in Lexington. His funeral took place on Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at the house, with interment at the Emanuel's Lutheran cemetery at Brickerville. Rev. A. W. Leibensperger, of Lititz, officiated." Inscription: ISRAEL ZARTMAN Born Nov. 7, 1817 Died Mar. 31, 1901 AGED 83 yr. 4 mo. & 24 d.
