Author of: "From Saddle to Pulpit: Or, From Cow-puncher to Preacher : the Life Story of J.J. ("Cowboy Joe") Payne", in which he does mention his wife(my Great Grandmother- Vivian Cromer), here and there, as well and of which, my Mother is in possession of a green leather bound copy, given to her by her Step- Granddad, her Grandmother´s 2nd husband. (Vivian Payne (Cromer) was his Widow. It is also said, he was a Texas Ranger. Found in a 1930 Census in Winchester Village, Adams Co., Ohio: Jo J. Payne aged 58, Vivian aged 27, Gladys age 9 (the Census was in April Gladys had birthday in Summer.), Ruth age 8.
