Jacob Kent was the son of son of Ebenezer Kent and Sarah (Wheaton) Kent. He was born in Leicester, Worcester County, Massachusetts on January 20, 1749/50.
His first wife was Desire Prouty, the daughter of Adam Prouty and Grace (Ramsdell) Prouty. They married in Leicester on September 11, 1771.
