About Jacob Tuvye Kreinik

Nachum Kornfeld, Brooklyn NY, Feb 2014. About Rebbe Shlomo Leib Weichselbaum of Tyczyn: (Rabbi Shlomo Leib of Tyczyn) "The rebbe's mother was Mirel Kreinik. She had a brother named Yaakov who lived to be 103 and attributed his long life to the fact that he carried the young R. Shlomo Leib on his shoulders to Cheder so he would not have to step in the muddy puddles. I will look for his picture and send it to you. The rebbe's father was know as R. Volf Blenover and lived there. According to the stories I heard, this R. Volf (Zev) had his own mikveh and wore a white beketche on Shabbos. He had a large collection of books and was a gabbai for the R. Meir Baal Hanes charity. He also cared for the cheder in Reishe (Rzeszow). He was a nephew (brother's son) to R. Shlomo Leib Lenczna, whose father R. Baruch was a hidden saint who lived in Reishe. I have not been able to find a clue to the name of R. Volf's father."

Andrew Kreinik: "My grandfather, Isidore, told me that his grandfather lived to be 105 (maybe he was only 103). This is probably Yakov. According to my grandfather, his grandfather died around 1920. If it is the same person, he was missing the top of his right index finger because he amputated it in order to stay out of the army."

It's not likely that a father and son would have the same name. Not for Tuvye nor for Joseph.

Ted Kreinik writes 2/18/2011: "hi David,

i had heard many years ago that Isidore Kreinik's grandfather came to the US in the 1850's and had arranged for family members to emigrate but returned to Austria Hungary when the civil war broke out. then his grandson Isidore my grandfather came to the US at age 16.

have you heard of anything like this and/or do you know how i could find out anything about this story? thanks best, ted " David J: Stanley Kreinik told me that story when we spoke on the phone in early February, 2013. Maybe that is where Ted got the story.
